Monastral presents Public Sentiment, the debut record from the winds and electronics duo of Sarah Clausen and Hunter Diamond. Both are well-established artists who have been active in creating and collaborating across the many branches of the Chicago creative music community.

On Public Sentiment, the duo frames their field recordings and sample-laden electro-acoustic improvisations with minimal post-production. The unhidden treasure is the presence of Chicago’s unofficial alt-funk poet laureate Marvin Tate (Mike Reed’s Separatist Party, Theaster Gates’ Black Monks of Mississippi), whose unfiltered recitations root the duo’s sound in bristling Chicago neighborhood character and visceral personal histories.
